Midsummer lights

It was early January 2016, between 10 and 11pm. I was outside in my yard, staring at the sky, facing north, with Orion above. To the right of the sky, a bright white light dropped from high up and fell at a medium speed. When it hit a point mid-way to the horizon, it suddenly shot off to the north as fast as a flash and disappeared. Immediately after it, another light fell from the same area, in the same manner, and shot away. I watched six lights do this one after the other. The whole sighting was probably about a minute.

The speed at which they shot off was so fast that it made the incident inexplicable. I couldn’t see where the lights dropped from. They just appeared from nowhere and fell, then flew off.
