In November 2015, a resident living on a rural property west of Stanthorpe, Queensland, began reporting frequent sightings of unusual lights in the sky. On one notable night, he counted around 50 individual lights roughly 7 kilometers away. These lights, which he described as being 2 to 3 finger widths in apparent height, moved across a 10 to 12 kilometer range. Sometimes appearing alone, in pairs, or in small clusters of three or four, the lights shifted primarily from side to side, rarely moving vertically. However, on the rare occasions they did move vertically, they emitted brief flashes. When he aimed a torchlight in their direction, the lights reportedly moved closer—within 2 kilometers of his property.

Over the course of the previous year, the man claimed to have lost 102 head of cattle under mysterious circumstances. Although police investigations concluded the animals had been stolen, no solid evidence was ever found. In an earlier incident, he recounted shooting a pig, only to discover the next morning that its head had been cleanly removed. Strangely, there was no blood at the scene, and the skin appeared to have been peeled away from the shoulders with unusual precision. Unfortunately, no photographs were taken of the carcass.

An experienced hunter since the age of nine, the man emphasized his familiarity with animal remains and his knowledge of conventional aircraft. Adding to the oddities, he also noted an unusually high presence of white animals in the region, including white kangaroos, white magpies, and white fallow deer.
