Lights in the sky

I wanted to share with you a remarkable experience from my past that still resonates with me to this day.

The year was 1969, and the location was XX Dennis Street, Whyalla Stuart. One evening, we heard a commotion outside and decided to investigate. Upon stepping out, we found some of our neighbors on their verandas or in their gardens, all looking up at the night sky with expressions of amazement and wonder.

What we saw was truly extraordinary – large colored lights that seemed to change from red to blue, then green and yellow. Though the exact sequence is a bit hazy in my memory, I was only 11 years old at the time, but I have never witnessed anything like it since.

What made this experience even more surreal was that it occurred in the opposite direction to the Lincoln Highway and airport, adding to its mystique. I recently did a Google search and eventually found records of the incident, dated as 1970. However, I distinctly remember being back in England by January 1970, so it must have occurred in 1969.

This encounter left a lasting impression on me and has fueled my curiosity about the mysteries of the universe ever since.
